Camera two footage (near the end) seems to suggest that part of the building off-camera began moving first. The dog runs into an already shaking space.

Cats freaking out before the Loma Prieta earthquake in 89 actually is the reason im hear today. My mom got scared and called my dad who got off early from his job as a UPS driver to help her. he got home before the quake and all the destruction. He was so happy to be alive, so Iwas concieved later that day.
Or at least thats what they tell me.

I heard about similar things happening prior to the tsunami back in 2004, that animals sought high ground before it hit. And yet we assume humans are above such creatures because we have the ability to reason…though any cat owner knows that cats are indeed a superior species.
