Twitter User Breaks News Of Whitney Houston’s Death 27 Minutes Before Press
An account located in Clark County, Nevada, tweeted “Whitney Houston found dead in Beverly Hills hotel” almost a half hour before the Associated Press released their report. The user in question, @chilemasgrande a.k.a. Big Chorizo, has not yet been reached for comment.

Big Chorizo’s tweet was sent to its then-14 followers at 7:30 p.m. EST. At 7:57 p.m. EST, the AP tweeted the news (and without initial mention of the hotel). As of this writing (Sunday 12:55 p.m. EST), @ChilemasGrande now has 34 followers.

Adam M a year agoHmm, just like Twitter “broke” the news of the deaths of Drake, Eddie Murphy, Keanu Reeves, Morgan Freeman … The problem with crediting Big Chorizo for “breaking” this is that he’s not a reputable journalist. He’s just a guy. If you were to take his tweet at face value you’d be an idiot. Sorry, but the news ain’t broken until the pros break it.

Shannon T. a year agoNot sure why there are OMGs and WTFs about this. News comes from somewhere. I lived a block away from the Hard Rock where Anna Nicole died & knew about it before anyone at the radio station where I worked, and the Associated Press. There’s always a source.
