What's New At #StLawrenceU This Fall?

It's about that time to say goodbye to summer, pack up your car and head to the North Country! Here are 10 things to get you even more psyched about returning to St. Lawrence University this fall (besides your friends, of course). Here we go, Saints!

1. Our residence hall.

We've endured more than a year of construction, but believe us: it was absolutely worth it. Just ask one of the 155 students moving in to the new residence hall this fall! Make this one of your first stops when you return to campus. Learn more about our new residence hall's features.

2. An open-air eatery.

Located in the new residence hall facing the Noble Center, this café features indoor and outdoor seating as well as a garage-like door that will be open on those classic North Country fall days to give the space an open-air feel. The eatery's hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. and the menu includes quick breakfast items such as muffins, bagels, coffee and juices and made-to-order sandwiches and salads, as well as cookies and beverages.

3. The Quad.

You have to see this quad to believe it! The renovations have added green space, a level area in the center and terraced steps leading to a promenade in front of Gunnison Memorial Chapel.

4. SLU apparel at the Brewer Bookstore.

Every time you go into the Brewer Bookstore it seems there's something new! That's definitely the case this fall - you'll find more than 20 new SLU apparel items as well as some old favorites that are back in stock! Make sure you take a peek when you head to the bookstore for everything you need this semester.

5. Gym equipment made for Saints.

Some new features you'll find at the Stafford Fitness Center this fall are all-new weight equipment, 23 new cardio machines and a completely new layout to improve the flow and open up space for individual body weight exercises. There's so much more to be excited about, so add a trip (and a workout!) to your to-do list.

6. 31 (yes, 31!) lounge spaces.

The new residence hall features 13 lounges that have some of the best views you'll find on campus (we recommend finding a spot overlooking the quad). And thanks to the opening of this new building, 18 rooms in other residence halls that had been converted from lounges to rooms have been converted back to lounges!

7. The Cole Reading Room in Herring-Cole.

This isn't exactly 'new,' but the Cole Reading Room - a favorite study space and library for students - has been offline for renovations since December and is back this fall! We suggest getting there early to claim a table - this might be a study hot spot this year!

8. An expanding gluten-friendly menu.

Our dining units have added more items to their gluten-friendly menus for the fall. Take a look! As always, if you have questions or concerns regarding any dietary restrictions you may have, feel free to ask a manager to assist you.

9. An array of coffee flavors.

Thanks to a coffee tasting last spring that was sponsored by our coffee vendor, Sun Coffee Roasters, as well as Thelmo and Dining Services, you'll find new blends at various spots around campus this fall. In addition to a decaf blend being offered at each place, Dana will feature French Roast, Jamaican Me Crazy, and French Vanilla; the North Star Café will have Dante's Inferno and Coastal Road, and the new residence hall will feature Dante's Inferno.

When it comes to what's new at St. Lawrence this fall, we can't look past the group of people who make up a quarter of our population! We will be welcoming 610 incredible individuals to the Laurentian community - we can't wait!
