Response to Is Yelp A Bully Or Just Misunderstood?:
No. They don’t. THIS is fact. No ad on Yelp. Lots of reviews positive and negative still showing despite deciding not to advertise. Am I special?
Four degrees. Including a PhD. In THE SOCIOLOGY OF RELIGION, which is what he’s writing about. 20 years of scholarly pursuit in the field. His interviewer’s qualifications? Looks good in a swimsuit.
“Aslan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in religions from Santa Clara University, a Master of Theological Studies degree from Harvard Divinity School, a Doctor of Philosophy in the sociology of religion from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa’s Writers’ Workshop, where he was named the Truman Capote Fellow in Fiction. It was during the summer before he went to Harvard that he converted back to Islam.”
So, it was acceptable to “question his academic qualifications” because he is a Muslim? Right. Daft is too kind a word for that logic. hey guy has 4 degrees and has been studying religions (plural) including Christianity for 20 freaking years! He converts to Islam and suddenly he’s a charlatan? Pardon, your Islamophobia is showing.
No, she was IGNORING it and therefore ignoring his basis for writing the book. The reason he kept mentioning it is the same that causes parents to repeat things to children: they just don’t listen and often don’t understand.
Hard to argue with the message—the CONTENT, the truth, so lets attack the spokesperson like we’re in third grade eh?
