America's Oldest Nurse Celebrates Her 90th Birthday With A Special Surprise

Florence “SeeSee” Rigney, 90, has been a nurse since 1946.

Florence "SeeSee" Rigney is said to be the oldest working nurse in the U.S. To honor her accomplishments, her coworkers gave her an amazing surprise for her 90th birthday.

A video of her big day was recorded and posted to YouTube by her coworkers at Tacoma General Hospital in Washington.

Bill Robertson, the hospital's CEO, said in a blog post that Rigney began her career at the hospital in 1946, and is still helping patients to this day.

"Even though her career has taken her across the country, and though she took time off to raise a family, she has been a part of our team on and off for nearly 70 years — about half of the years since Tacoma General was founded in 1882!" Robertson wrote.

The surprise began when Rigney walked into work and was greeted by all of her coworkers.

And got an outfit fit for a birthday queen.

    She couldn't believe it!

Unbeknownst to Rigney, her coworkers had written a letter to the state's governor, Jay Inslee, telling him about Rigney. He sent her a letter back.

After all the excitement, Rigney said, "I can't believe it... 90 years ago, I came into this world. And here I am."

    Congrats, SeeSee!
