Over the weekend, BuzzFeed Oz covered the TV Week Logie Awards in Melbourne (a.k.a. got to be professional fangirls for a day).
This is how it played out.
Early Sunday morning, we hit up our hotel's breakfast buffet to sustain ourselves for the long day ahead.
Next up, we headed over to the Crown Promenade Hotel to pick up our media accreditation. With one little pass (and a letter of rules), we were all set.
Back at our hotel, it was glam time. Parked in front of our respective mirrors, we began the extensive process of making ourselves red carpet ready.
It took nearly two hours so we had to race back to the Crown Promenade for the 2:15pm media call. But we still had time for a mirror selfie because there is always time for a mirror selfie.
We met up with BuzzFeed Oz collaborator, Vine superstar and all around nice guy Jackson Brazier and were quickly whisked down to our spot on the red carpet.
A few things about the red carpet. First: it's cramped.
Second, the floor is pretty uneven.
...but it is all very glitzy and glamorous!
Third, there is A LOT of waiting around.
Fourth, your feet will hurt.
This was my exact face when I realised I still had a minimum of three and a half hours to stand in heels. That is like suggesting that someone watch Titanic while standing in heels. Except it's not, because this was longer than Titanic.
Fifth, you'll get text messages from your friends who are so excited for you, and you'll be like "OMG I THINK I AM DYING NO JOKE SEND HELP".
And sixth, you will get hungry, thirsty, and not be able to go to the toilet.
The first hour of the red carpet moves at a glacial pace. Like any party, your fave celebs don't want to be the first to arrive because that's lame af.
The second hour is hectic. All the people you want to interview have a tendency to come through at once, so you have to make a lot of fast decisions and keep an eye on the people you are DESPERATE to talk to.
The third hour, aka when the red carpet is running late and the publicists want their celebs to get inside, is actual chaos and you just basically have to scream until you get their attention and they don't have a choice but to come and talk to you.
But also? You can get selfies. LOTS AND LOTS OF SELFIES WITH YOUR FAVES.
And you can have tiny, awesome conversations with celebrities, and it's really as cool as it sounds.
Eventually, the red carpet began to wrap up, and we began to feel the the come down after two hours of adrenaline-fuelled conversations with the stars.
Literally us.
As we left the venue, we were surprised to see the red carpet already in the process of deconstruction.
Returning to our hotel room to watch the show, everything that just happened started to sink in.
And as soon as the show was over, so were we.
