Green Lantern Comes Out Of The Closet
In a DC Comics universe-wide reboot, Alan Scott (the original Green Lantern) is now an openly gay superhero. His new storyline will be revealed in Earth 2 issue No. 2, which comes out Wednesday.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the writer of Earth 2 James Robinson explains the change:
“The original version of Alan Scott was an older man, and he had a superpowered son, Obsidian, who was gay. The fact that Scott was young now [thanks to a universe-wide reboot] meant Obsidian no longer existed. I thought it was a shame that DC was losing such a positive gay character. I said, ‘Why not make Alan Scott gay?’ To Dan DiDio’s credit, when I suggested it to him, there wasn’t a moment’s hesitation.”
The superhero was originally introduced in 1940 and fathered two children. He was the character DC co-publisher Dan DiDio teases audiences about earlier this month. In the reboot, Alan Scott has a boyfriend, Sam.

Getting rid of Obsidian and adding Alan Scott doens’t make a more diverse universe.
Right back where they started. Also, everyone, stop asking about Ryan Reynolds. They are different Green Lanterns. There are a shit load of different Green Lanterns.
There is also more than one Earth in DC. It’s a multiverse.
They picked the most random Lantern of them all to out, erased his storyline, and erased his gay kid. Instead they could’ve enriched it as a man who, though all powerful, couldn’t bare the shame of coming out to people so he had a wife and kids like a lot of gay men do. No, let’s water it down DC. Ugh, I’ll go back to BatWoman now and read a gay character done right. -

justme2012 a year agoLet’s all be gay, and run around with rainbow flags! We want gay marriage and be treated the same but only gay people can fly a rainbow flag……. Does this man Ryan Reynolds goes gay in the movie too? I’ve lost all hope for making him my man slave if he’s going to be gay.
