Harper's Bazaar had Misty Copeland recreate beautiful paintings of ballet dancers by Dégas.
First of all, the clothes they used for this shoot are GORGEOUS.
Misty is the first African-American woman to be the principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre, and she's got a KILLER smile.
Dégas was a French Impressionist painter in the late 19th century, most famous for his paintings and sculptures of ballerinas behind the scenes in Paris.
She focused on recreating the paintings precisely.
It took a lot of tries and a lot of swoon-worthy moves.
Misty had to nail every movement carefully, from the littlest motion of her finger...
...To the most perfect arch of her back.
The pictures look somehow super modern and also just like these paintings from the late 19th century.
Let's see that again:
Here's Misty channeling Dégas' Dancer (Dancer in Green).
Cool, yeah, I look dignified and cool like that when I bend over at the waist.
Perhaps practicing for Dégas' Two Dancers On A Bench?
Honestly, Misty's living my 6-year-old heart's dream life: really good at ballet and also in a fashion magazine and also super strong and respected.
Keep on slaying, Misty. <3 <3 <3
