The pretty blonde socialite has recently gained a place in a film with legendary actress Dame Judi Dench, but that does not mean that she's given up on her dream of a life with Harry. Cressida is back, this time with her mother, making courtiers fear, with a vengeance! Lady Mary, mother of Cressida, has been depressed since the end of Cressida's romance with Harry, which has been exacerbated by the numerous tears that Cressida herself has shed since the end of her two-year relationship. Harry has reportedly moved on to a string of temporary lovers (reportedly even having a tryst with an as of yet unnamed Southern socialite) and experienced amusement as the press has excitedly speculated about the next possible contender for the role of wife to the (now) fourth in line to the throne. Given the Prince's historical preference for blondes, it is likely that his next ladylove will have a large amount of flowing blonde locks, reminiscent of his mother Diana, Princess of Wales and be as well connected to boot.
Cressida was seen around London streets crying and looking stylish in her preference for low-key bonhomie clothing, but at the same time, she has been making it clear that she is not waiting around for Harry to decide that she is the one for him. She is moving on in life and after auditioning, she received a part in a street production and has gained a coveted movie role where she will be starring with move and theater legend Dame Judi Dench, famous for her numerous roles and her fixture in the James Bond movie series. Cressida's life has been steady in an upward climb professionally and it has been made obvious that Cressida is becoming the toast of the acting scene, just as she is socially. Despite the loss of Harry, Cressida's social position remains unaffected and she will be a fixture in it for the rest of her life no matter whom Harry marries. She has been seen around town with the York princesses and is enjoying the far less pressure filled life than that of when Harry was dating her and the nation's press placed her under a microscope.
Harry has been enjoying the single life immensely. When he is not at all at base, he is playing polo games, chatting up the lovely women who like to watch the princes play and also have the ability to avoid having to make a living so they can follow the handsome redhead around. His private life is still being speculated upon, but watchers are intrigued to know if Harry might do what William did, go back to a girlfriend he has dated so long and now sees doing just fine without him. It's no secret that when Kate (now Duchess of Cambridge) was dumped by William in 2007, she ran around, flaunting the fact that she had a life of her own and would suffer no shortage of lovers, she managed to lure William back into the relationship (this time with a promise of commitment, a promise of marriage) and she (Kate) quickly exited the social scene at long last secure in the knowledge that she would become William's wife and future Queen Consort.
Cressida is now theoretically following the same playbook and yet, insiders are not sure if whether or not Harry might take the bait. Unlike Kate, Cressida is flowing through actively on her pursuit of a career in acting and acting alongside legend Dame Judi Dench shows how seriously the industry is taking her. If she ends of having a career that takes off, it is likely that she will end up having the ability to really never disappear from Harry's life as so many other complaisant ex-girlfriends and former flings have. It shows that Harry has likely been the more disruptive influence and distraction than Cressida has been. Often girlfriends have been known to distract their royal boyfriends from their duties and the plans mapped out for them (Kate has been often of encouraging William to shirk family holidays and neglect his military duties in favor of extravagant vacations), but since Cressida was educated in the upper crust schools for the arts, it is becoming clear that the past two years of romance has likelier distracted and derailed Cressida from her initial interest in performing and her abrupt interest and participation in acting has begun to make many wonder if Harry really meant as much to Cressida as many thought he did.
It's no secret that Richard Branson was thrilled with the romance, rumored to be supporting Cressida's romance with an ample allowance to afford designer clothing (to be able to attend upper class events where Harry would be) and also readily sponsoring numerous projects of Harry's, encouraging Harry to borrow from him and it was during the Australian tour (a tour Harry was assigned by the Queen to commemorate an anniversary celebration) that engagement rumors peaked. There was no open or overt denial by the palace and it's no secret that the flamboyant billionaire is eager for a substantial connection to his family and the royals. Branson is notorious for hosting members of the royal family n his island Necker, but the main driving force has been Branson's only son Sam, who is married to Cressida's half sister Isabella, an upper crust beauty who William once reportedly fancied. If a marriage between Cressida and Harry could be made, it would mean that the Branson family managed to secure a genuine blood connection and end up with the ability of the Bransons to be included in not just the royal wedding, but also other exclusive events.
Harry would also ironically benefit, since the Spare (as Harry is affectionately called) would secure a comfortable financial future for himself and endless funds for his many charitable projects. Ostensibly, Harry comes from unlimited wealth, but the majority of it will come into William's hands as king and Harry is mainly left with whatever grants that William might give and the money that was left to him in trust by his mother Diana. AS a result, Harry will only have his military pay, his pension, and whatever else that might be given to him to live off of. Right now Charles pays his bills and while Charles is generous, it is a reality that the largesse will have to be negotiated once Charles becomes King of Britain and the Commonwealth. Branson's largesse and resources are unlimited, but it is certain that Harry's relationship with Cressida acted as an added incentive for Branson to be generous to Harry. Branson isn't overtly socially ambitious, but he's never been stinting when it comes to funding the interests of the royals or hosting them in lavish style.
Branson's employee David Clark has been dating Princess Beatrice (of York) for well near eight years; what David actually does is still unknown, but it's no secret that Mr. Clark is given numerous weeks off to squire Princess Beatrice on numerous vacations and nights out. Branson's exclusive sponsorships for Harry's (now famous) South Pole expedition and other projects for the past two years, the very duration of his relationship with Cressida, has raised eyebrows and made courtiers wonder if whether or not Harry has been letting himself be exploited; there were serious concerns that Harry might be getting subtly bribed by Branson, getting sponsorships in exchange for maintaining the relationship with Cressida. Her mother, Lady Mary has also been a huge factor in the interest of Cressida maintaining this relationship successfully. Lady Marry lives off of the generous largesse of friends (similar to that of Sarah, Duchess of York) and a substantial royal connection via marriage would in fact put her less in the position of poor relation, looked after by friends and relatives, to becoming a major social force as the mother-in-law of a royal prince, making her set securely for life. The breakup has had an effect on Mary, after what looked like a sure engagement, instead a breakup. Now, it's beginning to make society wonder if Mary will successfully follow Carole Middleton's blueprint for reconciliation and have Cressida walking down the aisle towards Harry.
