MONEYBEAVERS: Coach Riley's Teams Fared Better Than Huskers vs Common Opponents

Mike Riley's Oregon State teams actually outperformed Nebraska teams versus ten same-season common opponents over the past decade. Oregon State went 5-5 against the likes of USC, Missouri, Arizona, Washington, UCLA, and Wisconsin, while Nebraska went 5-7 against these same teams, with the two additional losses suffered in postseason rematches of regular-season games. Side notes: Each of these common opponents finished their respective seasons with winning records. And if I missed any, please fill me in. I did not see a common opponent for some seasons, 05, 08, etc. Update: Following Mike Riley's introduction as Nebraska's new coach, Nebraska faced off against USC in the 2014 Holiday Bowl led by interim head coach Barney Cotton. USC defeated Oregon State earlier in the 2014 season.

    2006 USC Trojans

They beat Nebraska at home but suffered a huge upset on the road at unranked Oregon State. After winning the PAC-10 and beating #8 Michigan in the Rose Bowl, they finished 11-2 and ranked #4.
