1. McDonald’s is set to give Ronald McDonald a makeover as the fast food company looks to give its mascot a stronger online presence.
2. The company has said Ronald McDonald will play an active role on its social media channels and will engage with customers using the #RonaldMcDonald hashtag.
3. The aim, according to the company’s senior vice president and global relationship officer Dean Barrett is to allow cusomters to “engage with brands in different ways and Ronald will continue to evolve to be modern and relevant”.
The designer of the mascot’s new wardrobe is Ann Hould-Ward, who has credits in a number of Broadway and off-Broadway productions, as well as having won a Tony Award for Beauty and the Beast.
“Designing new clothes for Ronald McDonald was one of the highlights of my career,” she said.
