This Politician Is Setting A Great Example For Every Fan Of Music In India

Let's keep the show going, everyone.

Hey, you! Do you like attending music festivals and seeing your favourite artists with all your friends and your selfie sticks and having a positively smashing time?

Well, Vijay Nair, co-founder of OML and the popular Bacardi NH7 Weekender music festival, tweeted this status from Meghalaya politician Ampareen Lyngdoh.

A MLA and Minister from the Meghalaya cabinet posted this today. #nh7shillong

Over the coming weekend, I'm going to be attending the Bacardi NH7 Weekender and wanted to share a little but very important thought with you all. It's really important that all of you make sure that you and your friends but your tickets for the event and not ask for freebies.
The only way the music scene will grow is if all of us buy our own tickets for festivals and events. me and my family have also bought our own tickets for the festival.
Doing so will go a long way in making sure the music scene is going in the right direction.
P.S - If you see me at the festival, do come over and say hi! See you!

Look, everyone. Our indie music scene is filled with some FREAKIN' PHENOMS.

But for the rest of the world to hear their music and go all "HOLY SHIT INDIAN MUSICIANS ARE BESTEST", they need our support first.

And when we scoop some free tickets for their gigs, we're doing the exact opposite of making them go places.

For some context, here are the accounts for the last edition of Control ALT Delete, a pay-what-you-want event where the profits are shared equally amongst the artists.

If a professional band that you KNOW is talented is barely making ₹5,000 for a gig, then we, the fans, are probably doing something wrong.

These artists work their asses off to give you the songs you love and listen to every damn day.

So let's all follow Ampareen's example and support our incredibly talented music scene with more than just some likes and retweets, people!
