22 Things You Learn When You Move From A Small Town To A Big City In India

Whoa whoa whoa. Why are there so many people everywhere?!

    1. The move might prove to be a bit stressful.

    2. Saying goodbye to all of those friends you've hung out with everyday since childhood is as hard as it sounds.

    3. You'll have to get used to the lack of greenery.

    4. And yes, the apprehension of whether you'll be able to find like-minded friends is real.

    5. You may be a bit overwhelmed by how freakin' massive your new city looks from the plane.

    6. It might take a while to get used to the number of people you have to push and shove on a daily basis.

    7. You'll find yourself wondering whether you just have terrible luck, or whether these monstrous traffic jams are an everyday thing.

Okay, yupppp. This is an everyday thing.

    8. After living in a huge house back in your hometown, the size of your new apartment may be a tad underwhelming.

    9. And your apartment complex probably has more people than your entire street back home did.

    10. And if you're one of the lucky ones whose building comes with a swimming pool, there are probably too many people in there too.

    11. You'll soon stop wondering why everyone is in such a hurry and suddenly find yourself walking a little faster.

    12. You'll miss being able to walk or cycle to wherever the hell you want.

    13. "Auto? Taxi!??! Bail gadi?!!??!?!!??!?!?! ANYONE???" is something you'll probably be saying at least thrice a week.

    14. Although it's kinda cool that you can step out for some super unhealthy "Indian Chinese" food at 2 a.m. like NBD.

    15. You'll miss lazing by the lake or the park near your house with your friends for hours at a time.

    16. But let's face it, there is a whole lot of stuff to do in the big city to keep you occupied.

    17. You'll get major homesickness from time to time, so you'll find a new fondness for Skype and FaceTime (and a newfound hatred for your Wi-Fi dying on you).

    18. But you know what, the people here are actually pretty darn cool themselves.

    19. Sure, they're always in a hurry. Sure, the traffic jams work them up. But MAN, do these guys know how to partaaay.

    20. Come to think of it, you won't even realize when this place starts to feel like your new home.

    21. In fact, the happiest revelation of all is when you start to feel like you have two homes!

    22. So maybe the big city life isn't so bad after all :)
