We all know about Zoella, Joe Sugg, and JacksGap, but there are an awful lot of other good British YouTubers out there. Here are some others to look out for.

1. Patricia Bright – 502,596 subscribers

When you watch one of Patricia Bright's videos it feels as if you're chatting with her in person, not watching on the screen, which is quite a talent. Her videos are full of useful tips and advice, ranging from how to take control of your life to how to improve your winter morning routine.

2. TheLeanMachines – 184,937 subscribers

John Chapman and Leon Bustin's fitness YouTube channel is becoming increasingly popular thanks to their their approachable style and workout tips that don't necessarily require a gym membership. The fact that they're topless half the time also helps.

3. MyNamesChai – 236,847 subscribers

Chai Cameron likes to ramble on and on and on in his YouTube videos, and that's part of the charm of watching them. Recent videos feature emoji impressions and terrible attempts at pumpkin carving.

4. Will Darbyshire – 192,235 subscribers

Will Darbyshire's videos stand out not only because they are glossy and well-produced, but because each one is a little personal essay. Take a recent video on pictures for example: "It's a fragment of time, forever frozen, but forever living and breathing as well."

5. Beautycrush - 1.4 million subscribers.

Sammi's channel is not just all about fashion and beauty. There's quite a lot of advice here about how to get over bad relationships and rebuilding your self-confidence. She's also got the cutest bulldog. In fact the cutest dog in the universe.

6. LucyAndLydia – 77,296 subscribers

Twins do weirdly well on YouTube, and Lucy and Lydia's videos are no different. Their videos mainly consist of beauty and inspiration tips, but their enthusiasm for it really sets them apart from other channels.

7. Carly Rowena – 119,822 subscribers

Carly is a qualified personal trainer, and watching her video tutorials makes you feel like you're saving £££ by not feeling like you need to have your own one. Her videos also have really useful well-edited cooking demonstrations.

8. Scola Dondo – 156,584 subscribers

Scola Dondo is also a personal trainer, and she encourages a healthy lifestyle but advises moderation with weight loss and excessive fitness regimes. Her account is very personable and approachable.

9. JakeBoys – 143,731 subscribers

Jake is an excitable chap who acts like he's been given an awful amount of sugar before being unleashed with a camera, but that's part of his charm. He also does a lot of videos with fellow YouTuber Adam Waithe.

10. Tyrannosauruslexxx – 111,104 subscribers

Lex is a very honest, self-deprecating YouTuber whose videos mix the silly with the serious. Recent videos include "How to Love Yourself" and "Sex Education!"

11. ChewingSand – 120,322 subscribers

Hazel Hayes, originally from Ireland, doesn't take herself too seriously on YouTube, and that's quite refreshing in the vlogging world. Her channel description says: "If you like witty, sassy, Irish girls... you'll hate this. Don't even bother subscribing."

12. Ghostparties – 74,697 subscribers

Not only does Kate make really professional make-up tips and advice videos, but she also has a keen interest in interior design. Her videos on this topic show how you can make your house look nice without spending huge amounts of cash.

13. NikiNSammy – 91,914 subscribers

That's right, they're twins. As well as collaboration videos of the sort you see often on YouTube, Niki and Sammy Albon make humorous and easily watchable cooking videos. For example, just after introducing a Nutella chocolate-chip cookie recipe, they add: "That's right, your ovaries have exploded all over the plate, haven't they? Popopopopopopoppopopopop."

Luke Cutforth is an extremely likeable guy who speaks at a million miles a minute, and his editing style is to zoom into his own face as many times as possible for no reason. Recent chats include talks on parallel universes and how to build a blanket fort.

15. Steve Booker – 146,651 subscribers

Steve is very into travelling and his channel is a good starting point for travel inspiration. Recent vlogs include videos on India, Istanbul, and Canada. In a recent one you can see him proposing to his girlfriend in Paris.

The first thing you notice about Jake Mitchell is HOW TALL HIS HAIR IS. The second thing is how there is a constant bouncing R&B track in the background of all of his videos. And the third? How nice he is.

Describing himself as "60% white girl 40% wasted" on his Twitter profile, Sam King makes videos that consist of him covering his mates in whipped cream and prank-calling them. His most popular video is his review of American sweets.

18. Ninebrassmonkeys – 192,969 subscribers

Benjamin Cook is a filmmaker who created the Becoming YouTube series, which interviews new and established YouTube stars on the issues facing the online community. He's also the creator of Tofu, the online little brother to Cucumber.
