"Type A," but laid-back. Critical, but lenient. Intense, but slow-moving. Although it is hard to imagine describing just one person using these diverse --- and apparently contradictory --- adjectives, all of them seem to fit me equally well. As I’ve reflected on this, my being so, “x, and not x,” the best explanation I've come up with is that my perfectionism reveals my own faults just as clearly as it does anyone else’s. That being the case, I've worked hard to find equilibrium between my drive to excel and shortcomings, and, in doing so, I have found it much easier to understand others’ difficulties. At the end of the day, I’m just trying to be a decent person, doing right by the people I meet along the way.
