The standard English/British sports rule applies I think. When he wins he is British, when he loses he is Scottish.

Sports Buzz After beating the No. 1 player in the world yesterday, Murray is facing Federer today in the finals of the U.S. Open. Murray, a Scotsman, pulled off the year’s biggest tennis upset in his victory against Nadal, and has a 2-1 record against Federer. Update: He lost in straight sets.

It took me hours to figure out if he was British, Scottish, or Irish…there were conflicting reports everrrywhere. End card is he’s Scottish, which is both kinda British and kinda Irish, so I can understand the confusion!
