Strawberry Fields Is Back, And This Is Why It Matters!

It's back! Strawberry Fields, the best grassroots music festival India has to offer, is back in it's XVIII edition from the 12-14th December, 2014. As usual, new and upcoming bands will perform at NLSIU, Bangalore to compete in this festival which all music enthusiasts hold so dear. With music ranging from blues to metal, psychedelic to indie, it promises to be some show! The Headliners are yet to be announced, till then, here's a list of a few of the bands which have participated/won Strawberry Fields, to give you a heads up as to what to expect:

1. Motherjane

Strawberry Fields, 2000. In fact, Strawberry Fields was the inspiration behind the song Fields Of Sound!!!

2. Bhayanak Maut

THE Metal Band from Mumbai. Their stage acts are legendary, and they've performed at Strawberry Fields twice!

3. Kryptos

A heavy Metal Band from Bangalore, which contributed majorly to the Metal Revolution in India.

4. Thermal And A Quarter

A band which has redefined the Indian Rock Scene.

5. Galeej Gurus

Galeej Gurus featured in the Rolling Stone's "India's Hottest bands" list. Though, they do not like to tag their genre, they're majorly Indie. They've opened for Deep Purple in India.

6. Demonic Resurrection

Finalists in Strawberry Fields, 2005. They recently played in the prestigious death metal festival Wacken Open Air in Germany!

7. Junkyard Groove

Winners, Strawberry Fields 2005. One of the best Alt-Rock bands around, they have opened for Iron Maiden, Incubus, etc.

8. Pin Drop Violence

They returned to Headline SF in 2005. PDV has dominated the local metal scene and even played at Shamal 2006 in Dubai.

9. Slain

Slain is India's answer to Progressive Rock, from Bangalore. Winners, 2007.

10. Goddess Gagged

Winners, Strawberry Fields 2010. A hardcore band deriving inspiration from other genres like indie, electronica, etc.

11. Clown With A Frown

Winners, 2012. An Alt-Rock band from Bangalore.

12. The Incredible Mindfunk

Winners, Strawberry Fields 2013. Their indie/psychedelic singles like "Maybe It's Me" made them an instant hit amongst the lively crowd.
