What Was Your First Meme?

“Boom Goes The Dynamite” was the first viral video I can remember ever seeing, causing my friends to say things like “And Boom Goes The Dynamite” for months in college. What was your first viral thing? Add it in the comments!

I know, right? Now tell your friends!

Mine was Hampster Dance (1998), but that’s been covered. Salad Fingers wasn’t until 2004, but it was another of the earliest things that I was vaguely aware were “viral” (without that word really being in circulation yet).

This was sent around quite a bit after 9/11. Before that, it was the “Fifty things to do in a Wal-Mart/Elevator” email.

Definitely this. Traded via e-mail as duckjob.wav. Totally hilarious when I was in middle school. Gotta love pre-FCC crackdown morning radio.
