jrplette a year agoYou know I would have been “gung-ho go dad” about this video if his accent hadn’t been that strong and I hadn’t seen that texas judge beat the shit out of his daughter on hidden camera not too long ago. Not to say this dad was out of line, I think he made a good show of his punishment and was totally fair and he seems like a solid guy. Its just…man that judge scared the shit out of me I will NEVER mess with a Texas dad after seeing that video because they run the gamut from sane-with-a-gun to crazy-with-a-belt. Shame about the laptop though; coulda sold it or something. There’s a good chance he’ll never see a return on investment here :(

hanapana a year agoMy family owned a gun store for decades and I haven’t ever owned a gun nor thought to use one to make a point. In my opinion, if you’re focusing on the gun, then you’re paying attention to the wrong thing. Destruction of the laptop was to show his daughter the laptop wasn’t going to be returned no matter how many times she begged. Furthermore, he took away the very thing that she abused which in my book, is good parenting. Granted, there are other ways of making that point. But this father did what he wanted to with HIS gun, to HIS laptop in dealing out HIS punishment to HIS daughter. I don’t understand how she would be traumatized other than realizing how serious her Dad is when he says to follow his rules.

does anyone else remember when the BIGGEST privilege was to get your own phone?! not a cell phone, just a normal phone, that connected to your family’s landline, that you could use in your bedroom? A one time purchase of $20?!? I dont remember my parents ever just dropping HUNDREDS of dollars on me for anything! I mean i was enrolled in swimming lessons and girl guides, which i know aren’t free, but come on!! We hardly got an allowance but we were paid for chores; 25 cents to load the dishwasher, 25 cents to empty it, 10 cents to feed the dog… Talk about learning the value of a dollar.

Lillithdv8 a year agoI’m on the dad side. Kids need to appreciate what they have and learn to be self sufficient.
My parents were well off but rarely took a cleaning person to help. We shared chores between my brothers and I. We had to work for what we wanted and prove we could handle it (hobbies, pets, expensive toys). I learned to cook and be organized and my brothers learned how to fix stuff around the house. Now as adults with our own homes we appreciate it all. Heck I can fix an leaky faucet and re-wire electronics, pay my bills on time and make a 3 course dinner in a 2 hours. -

if my child came out like that to me she would be wearing 3 shoes, 2 on her feet and 1 up her ass!!!! we got our ass whipped round here!!! leather work belts,drop cords, broomsticks, switches(made us pick’em ourselves),or whateva they had in there hand at the time…and the traditions shall continue !!
