In doing so, you’ll be amazed by the people you meet, the stories they tell you, and the friends you make.

2. There's Never a Dull Moment in Service Projects

Working with a bunch of great people who want nothing more than to have fun and make an impact makes for a great time. If you’ve never danced and made a fool of yourself during a project, you’re doing it wrong... these are not your average service projects!

3. Working with Old People has Never Been So Much Fun

As a CEL, I played 4 on 4 at the senior Olympics and was beaten by a 78-year-old man with a prosthetic. Still the most fun I’ve had on a project.

4. You Get to Work With the Best People

You have Professors, T.A.s and interns that are both your friends and mentors. These people will challenge, support and inspire you, and you will grow from it.

5. You have the opportunity to provide a family in need with food to eat

... among many other projects! Packing thanksgiving baskets for families in need is one of the most rewarding experiences for me. And lifting 50 pound sacks of potatoes became a competition rather than a chore!

6. Someone Has to Speak for the Trees

Service isn’t always direct; if you can be the voice for those in need or for the environment, you will inspire others to be a part of the movement as well.

7. Become a Leader you can be Proud of

You grow from the experiences in and out of the classroom. It’s a great leadership opportunity on campus. You gain from giving!

8. Don't deny the Problem; Be the Solution

Be a part of direct and indirect service projects… you never know how far your service will go!

The Civic Engagement Leader(CEL) Team becomes a family. The last day of the Semester will be a very sad, tear-filled CELebration!
