Also called Drug Affinity Complex https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CJC-1295: Growth Hormone-Releasing Factor, abbreviated DAC: GRF, CJC-1295 is an artificial analogue of GHRH/growth hormone-releasing hormone (and is also known as GRF/growth hormone-releasing factor). CJC-1295 is also a GHS/growth hormone secretagogue and was designed by Canadian company ConjuChem Biotechnologies.
This synthetic hormone is a modified form of growth hormone-releasing hormone (1-29) but with improved pharmacokinetics, specifically in regards to half-life. CJC-1295 significantly increases the amounts of plasma growth hormone and the levels of IGF-1 or insulin-like growth factor 1 in both humans and animals.
A single injection of CJC-1295 in humans increases the levels of plasma GH by 2-10 fold within 6 days or longer, and the levels of IGF-1 by 1.5-3 fold in 9-11 days and has its estimated half-life is about 6-8 days in humans. For people who got multiple shots of CJC-1295, their IGF-1 levels were found to stay elevated for up to twenty-eight days.
The drug has been known to extend the bioavailability and half-life of GHRH 1-29 and to stimulate the secretion of IGF-1. At the same time, it boosts the half-life of different acting agents through bioconjugation.
The drug was once under investigation as a possible option for treating growth hormone deficiency, and lipodystrophy and had reached the second phase of clinical trials before it was discontinued after one of the trial subjects died. The physician attending the trial believed that the most probable reason as to why this happened was because the patient had coronary artery disease with occlusion and plague rapture, and believed that the occurrence was not related to treatment using the drug. All in all, as a precautionary measure, research on the drug was discontinued.
Nonetheless, there are many manufacturers in the market making CJC-1295 mainly for bodybuilding purposes. However, in some countries like the Netherlands, the manufacture or use of CJ-1295 is considered illicit. As such, there are many cases where the drug has been found on the black market in such countries.
