Because all bets are in! The 2014 World Cup was filled with weird predictions that came true and strange occurrences that just cannot be explained. People and animals alike took part in foretelling who the winners will be, and amazingly, they got it right! These are their stories.

2. Corruption exposé – 100% correct

Attempting to expose the corruption in FIFA, this tweeter predicted the exact outcome of the final match between Germany and Argentina, along with the identity of the scorer and the time of the win - 17 hours in advance!

4. Animal Oracles

Every team has its mascot and apparently every country has an animal oracle able to predict the World Cup winners. (Check out a list of this year's winners and losers!)

A few years back, we had the world famous Paul the Octopus make accurate predictions in the 2010 World Cup. This time, it was Cabeção the psychic turtle who chose correctly between third-place contenders Brazil and Holland, whilst Bob the sloth predicted that Germany would come out victorious in the finals!

Psychic or just plain luck of the draw? We like to think it’s the former!

5. Yeah, Science!

World Cup computer stimulators took into account various statistics in their attempt to predict the overall victor. However, even siding with science has its risks. These computers wrongly predicted that Spain would advance to the semi-finals, when in reality they got kicked out in the first round. And while they were correct in predicting the presence of Germany in the finals, it's just not impressive enough. Even Nelly the elephant knew that!

6. Voodoo Curse

'Socceroos' team members paid a visit to an African witch doctor in 1970 and made him curse their opposing team in the 1970 world cup qualifications round. The result was Australia's victorious 3-1 win over the Rhodesian team (now Zimbabwe) in the decider.

Unfortunately, the Australians forgot to pay the 1000 GBP fee for the curse and ended up being cursed themselves by the enraged sorcerer. For 30 years the Aussies couldn't even make it past the qualification stage.

The curse was finally lifted in 2004 when Australian John Safran visited Zimbabwe and paid a rival witch doctor to lift the curse. Two years later the Socceroos qualified for the 2006 World Cup and have participated in every World Cup since. Coincidence? We think not.

7. Holy War

In a Simpsons episode titled "You Don't have to Live Like a Referee", aired on March 30, 2014, Brazilian football superstar "El-Divo" (who looks an awful lot like Neymar) gets injured in the world cup and the result is an astounding 2-0 win for Germany. Déjà vu?

9. Singapore’s Own Goal
