On October 4th, Saturday morning cartoons died.
The internet was heartbroken.
But let's take a step back for a moment.
Back in the day, Saturday was the ONLY time you could watch cartoons.
Today, there are entire channels dedicated to cartoons, 24 hours a day.
You can stream cartoons whenever you want.
And nearly every cartoon you can think of is a mouse click or dvd purchase away.
In your lifetime, you didn't just lose 5 hours of cartoons a week.
You gained 168.
That's 8,736 hours in which you can watch cartoons each year.
Saturday morning cartoons are the biggest movies on the planet.
These days, even the prom king and queen know who Tony Stark is.
That's because geek culture has achieved world domination.
That couple hours of Saturday morning cartoons are gone because we don't need them anymore.
The inmates have taken over the asylum.
And we turned every minute of every single day into Saturday morning.
My fellow geeks, scream it loud and proud:
We didn't just lose Saturday morning cartoons.
We won the war.
