Pilot Who Died After US Fighter Jet Crashed Near RAF Base Named

    The pilot who died after a US F-18 fighter jet crashed near an airbase in Suffolk has been named as Major Taj Sareen.

    The 34-year-old died after his plane crashed on farmland after taking off from RAF Lakenheath on Wednesday, the BBC reported.

    Cambridgeshire police reported at the time that there had been a fatality and it was believed that there was just one person on board the plane.

    "The military aircraft which had taken off from RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk came down at about 10:30am this morning," a statement confirmed.

    The plane is thought to have crashed on farmland in Redmere, the BBC reported.
