A Student Cut Off His Penis And Stabbed His Mother 11 Times While High On Mephedrone

Charles Mann told police officers: “I am a paedophile, I do not want to live. Take me to the light. I can see the vampires.”

A student has been jailed for 16 months for stabbing his mother at home after bingeing on alcohol, cannabis, and mephedrone.

Prosecutor Amy Packham said Mann had told police officers: "I am a paedophile, I do not want to live. Take me to the light. I can see the vampires."

The court was told that he said to his mother during the attack: "This is the prophecy. I love you, but this is the prophecy."

David Etherington QC, who was representing Mann, revealed that the student had become involved in drug-taking after taking his GCSEs.

The court heard that while he had experienced hallucinations after taking drugs in the past, he had never before a had a violent reaction.

Etherington said Mann had "virtually no coherent memory of what happened", and could only rationalise it as being a suicide attempt while in the grip of a delusion, the Daily Mail reported.

According to The Mirror, Judge David Rennie said: “This case has a number of features which make it if not unique wholly exceptional.

"The lack of total awareness and capacity to form intent was the direct result of drug-induced psychosis. I further recognise that in your psychotic state you inflicted life-altering injuries on yourself and have taken this cocktail of drugs before without any particular side effects."

He added: "Your mother is an extraordinary human being who has conducted herself with enormous dignity, and I thank her very much indeed."

The BBC reported that Mann could be freed on licence at the beginning of April.

Rennie told Mann he would be helped and monitored upon his release.
