Think about this - If everything any of us has ever written, said, lied about, or did that was wrong(ish)…we'd be screwed too. The guy did the wrong thing, no doubt about it. But just some of us didn't get caught like he did. Had we, we'd be screwed too.

I love how a lot of people skipped over the article and went straight for the letters…then ask why The State held on to the emails since December. They were unconfirmed! The State could not release the emails until they got confirmation that they were really from Sanford. A public confession and basic confirmation from his staff means the emails are finally fit to print. Now whether or not they should have been released at ALL (the 'tacky' argument) is a whole other matter…but I commend the State for following journalistic practices and not releasing them in Dec. when they first surfaced.

I don't feel like I should be reading them. It's all a messy, unfortunate story. I feel bad for all partners. Don't get me wrong, but there's two sides to the story. Maybe his wife was a cold WASP or something. Life sucks, things like this happen. You learn from it and move on. Or lose your job, like Mr. Sanford may someday face.
