I Want To Tell You A Bit About My "Fair Share Plan."

Make no mistake: When it comes to the Erie County Sales Tax, Mark Poloncarz is listening to the Bee Gees and standing in line to see Star Wars. He's stuck in 1977.

I want to tell you a bit about my "Fair Share Plan." It's not the 1970s. It's the 21st Century. When I am County Executive, Erie County will terminate our antiquated, 1977 sales tax sharing plan and distribute these dollars more fairly.

You can read more about my plan here.

You know what's even more remarkable? I can't believe Mark Poloncarz would stand in the way of this! Imagine what could happen if we're not stuck in the 1970s. Make no mistake: When it comes to the Erie County Sales Tax, Mark Poloncarz is listening to the Bee Gees and standing in line to see Star Wars. He's stuck in 1977.

That's right, Mark Poloncarz is stuck in 1977. He thinks its fine that the County shares its sales tax revenue based on a 40-year-old agreement. We all know: Erie County has changed a lot in the last 40 years.

I do not believe that the status quo is enough, that we should be satisfied with the same old, same old. In New York, where we're losing more residents every year than any other state, Mark Poloncarz does nothing to create a local economy that encourages our kids to stay.

I think this will be a campaign about important things, and if you ask me there's no more important issue facing our families than taxes. Unfortunately, Mark Poloncarz is perfectly satisfied with the legacy of unfairness that is cemented into the Erie County Sales Tax.

Our region is on the rise. New York State has invested a billion dollars in our future. Yet the current county executive has done nothing to leverage that investment and unlock our potential. He hasn't, I will. He isn't tough enough to take on the fight to cut property taxes, I am.

The path to fairness is not being stuck in the past, it's looking to the future. It's a world where businesses that are looking to locate here don't see high property taxes as a reason to go someplace else.

As your County Executive, on day one I will scrap the 1977 sales tax distribution formula. I will provide for more fair and equitable funding for our towns. We'll fix our roads - our bridges - our schools. And we will cut property taxes.

And together, we can create the 21st Century Erie County our families deserve.
