One of the things I admire most about Lindsey Stirling’s cover videos is that the locations are always spot-on, as is the case in this video where she and Tyler Ward take on an actual thrift shop. The cover retains the sense of fun and recklessness contained in the original, while at the same time changes some of the lyrics in order to make sure that the song is clean enough for PG audiences (which is an achievement in itself). An excellent cover, however, according to me this time, is one that betters the original to an extent that it is beyond recognition. And that is exactly what this song does. Don't get me wrong - I'm not one of those Bieber haters the internet seems to be filled with these days, but I must admit that the original while catchy is quite unremarkable and a typical product of today's party-themed pop-centric music industry. This cover does not only provide soul to a song that didn't have one in the first place, but also ensures that it doesn't lose the feel-good fun factor that Beauty and A Beat is all about.
