Labels
How is possible that most people see a label in the forehead of the people that surround them.Why does it happen?
Labels are real, even the people that are the most open-minded, have labels for people.
Have you ever seen a person and only have thought one word for them? "Slut, gay, fat, anorexic, ugly, weird, attention whore" those are called labels in a simple way to say it. A way to explain labels is a stereotype or a social standard the society that surrounds you thought and implemented on your brain while you were growing up. This stereotypes or social standards can be from "only girls use skirts", to, "let´s kill a woman with rocks because she wore a short skirt".
This lessons that the culture, society and family thought us, go into our unconscious, making them part of the way we think. They go really deep in to ourselves because, think of a kid as an sponge, it absorbs everything in their surrounding, even if we don´t remember those lessons, they are there.
Make a little conscious on yourself, think on how many times you haven´t seen, lets say, a woman with too much make-up and tinny clothes, and thought she is a slut. Or lets say, you see a old man, with a suit; thought of him as a tighten up man . Or a woman with dark make-up and colorful hair and thought of her as a weirdo or creep.
Average people have hundreds of labels for people. Some people less than others, why? Because there are people that when a label comes to their minds, they say to themselves, "no that´s not a slut, maybe its a woman who is proud of their body, and likes to show it" or "maybe he is not a tighten up man, maybe he likes to wear a suit" or "that is not a weirdo, that´s just a really artistic person, or a eccentric one".
It not only good for ourselves to try not to have labels, but for them, for the ones being label. We can hurt, we can inflict pain, and stress for those labels. Why? Because some people not only think them, they say it, they shout it, they madly protest again those who are different from the social standard and the stereotype they want to be true, but in reality is not. I´m not saying to approve what other people does. I am saying that we should respect it, as long as they respect us.
Respect is not hurting others, verbal, nor physical. You might not approve it, but you must respect it. There´s always a way to resolve conflicts in a diplomatic and civilized way. Many people don´t see it that way, that´s why there are wars, there is hatred, there´s violence. You might think I´m exaggerating, but think about how racism screams and discriminates, and how no matter in what way people is racist, gender, race, sexual preferences and orientation, etc; its the same, its hatred, its a stereotype drilled in their minds, with no logic explanation from their point of view and disgusting in my opinion. It´s okay to dislike things, just respect them as long they do the same to you.
In my most sincere opinion I think all racist should burn in hell, JUST KIDDING. I think they should get informed, they should read, investigate, learn on how to improve the way the see the world, the religious fanatics for example, they should read more about what their sacred books preach, and found out that the biggest lesson they have to learn, is that in all of them, they say they should respect and love each other; instead of destroying themselves and others. Also remember or learn that their "gods" did not wrote those books. Another thing they should learn are that they religion is not right, but it is also not wrong, its possible but not ascertainable. Its as right and wrong as any other believes, and its okay to believe or not in them. Its all about respect.
It is really all about respect in yourself and others. Think about it.
