In Poland the start of summer is associated with St. John's Eve, the Polish equivilant of Midsummer. This day is marked by numerous traditions steeped in Slavic customs. Celebrations vary by region, but include such activities as releasing sky lanterns (pictured above), weaving flower garlands, attending outdoor concerts and some even dare to jump over bonfires.
