5 Photos to Get You Amped for Spring

For many of us living under the reign of all four seasons, we now find ourselves in the home stretch, getting ready for spring and bidding our farewells to winter and its festivities. After months of grey dark days, snuggled under mounds of sweaters and blankets, it is easy to forget the sweetness of spring, and what it feels like to run through the woods or hike up a hill without a bulky parka or heavy boots standing between us and the elements. While there is still a few weeks to go before it is officially spring, we thought we’d share our vernal visions, to tease and excite our readers for the coming of one of our favorite seasons.

Anzo Borrego Desert State Park in San Diego, California is a tripple threat in the springtime with majestic mountains, breathtaking sunsets, and wildflowers as far as the eye can see. Bob Ross would’ve had a field day painting this stunning state park at dusk, with all of its ethereal purples, pinks and oranges. We’ll be filing this colorful landscape under E for eye candy.

Unless you’re handy with an ice drill, there’s no doubt that spring and summer are the best seasons to plan a fishing trip. Well, just look at those bare legs! Spring hikes means less layers and more room in our packs for delicious trail snacks! Here at Pocket Ranger® we are kind of the Goldilocks of hikers, and we find the weather to be either too hot or too cold most of the time, except in the springtime when everything is jusssst right!

Now’s around the time when all our feather friends who didn’t stick around for the snow show return from their long vacation in the south. Spring presents excellent opportunities for bird and wildlife watching, and we find we’re a little bit more patient and watchful when we’re not cold and shivering in a pile of snow! Many state parks and natural areas offer birding tours this time of year to keep you in the know about what kind of beaked beauties are nearby, as well as who you can expect to cash your spring picnics.

What better time to dust of the old helmut and pump those big bad tires full of fresh air (your lungs too!) than springtime. As soon as the snow melts you can find us speeding around town on our road bikes, the whole time imaging that we’re somewhere as scenic and solitary as the photo above—that mountain biker is the luckiest dude on two wheels!
