Get Ready For The 50th Anniversary Of Everything The Beatles Ever Did

It's all starting today with the anniversary of their first single, "Love Me Do," and it won't stop until 2020. It's already exhausting!

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the original release of "Love Me Do," which was The Beatles' debut single back in 1962. It's a notable occasion! If you've somehow never heard the song, here you go:

It's a good tune, but they eventually went on to write much better songs. Dozens of them, in fact! The Beatles kept very, very busy over the course of their relatively brief career, and pretty much everything they did was of great importance to popular culture.

Here's the thing, though: We're going to be hearing about the 50th anniversary of every last one of those things every couple weeks for the rest of this decade. It's going to get very tedious! It will get particularly intense when the anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band rolls around in 2017, and that's only the halfway point of their catalog.

The novelty of Beatles 50th anniversaries is going to wear out very quickly, so let's all enjoy this moment by singing "Love Me Do" together, karaoke-style!
