The Chopstick Diet

London- based Japanese woman claims that the Asian secret to staying slim is by eating with chopsticks, which makes it harder to shovel food in and slows down the pace. It's even less complicated than the banana diet. But go to any restaurant in Chinatown and you're bound to see people who are pretty good at shoveling food into their mouths using chopticks.

  • That was my original reason for using chopsticks. As I've gotten better with them, though, it doesn't work so well as a weight loss technique. After reading the nine principles of the diet on link 3 there, I have to say that the use of chopsticks is quite possibly the least important. The foods you eat take precedence over how you eat them, and traditional east Asian diets tend to be low in red meats. As Eastern diets have become Westernized — I'm looking at you, China — Eastern bodies have begun appearing more like ours. Greater variety has led to increased height, but more fats has led to..well…more fat. And I'm fairly certain it's not due to decreased chopstick use.
