Rather than lose your mind – and your brains – to this madness and gruesome mayhem, perhaps it's time to protect yourself. Fortunately, you don't have to blow a huge hole in your wallet to ward off any zombies.

1. Kindling to Burn Zombies
Zombies burn at around the same rate as humans, so this isn't exactly your best bet if you're in a hurry to get away. However, if you're able to trap these disgusting creatures in a barn, car or other enclosed space, a good old' fashioned zombie roast is the way to go.
Remember that pallet? Break it down into small pieces for kindling, light a match and watch those bad boys and ghoulish gals' burn. For an even bigger blowout, use ample combustible supplies like gasoline. Don't forget the marshmallows.
2. Pallets As Stabbing Tools To Puncture Zombie Brains
Now, it's a well-known fact that to effectively slay a zombie, you're going to have to puncture his or her brains.
And what better way to get the job done than a wooden stake? To make one, all you have to do is widdle down your pallet to use a stabbing tool and voila – a dead zombie that will stay dead, permanently.
3. Use as Fencing to Reinforce Zombie Traps
If you're looking to buy yourself some time, zombie traps are a must. And since zombies aren't exactly the smartest bunch, some strong rope woven back and forth in a zigzag pattern will surely knock them off their rotting feet. You could also dig deep trenches covered with burlap for them to fall into.
Just make sure your fellow humans know that this is a zombie trap. To ensure they don't end up in your little obstacle course, stack your pallets up as fencing for the area.
4. Set Sail for Safety
Imagine this scenario if you win: You're running away from a horde of zombies when you find yourself at the river's edge. You don't have time to build a boat; fortunately you notice a discarded pallet nearby. Grab that pallet and head for the water. Lucky for you, water is a deterrent for zombies – well, at least today's breed. One day they might adapt and grow some gills, but until that happens, you can take comfort floating safely on your trusty pallet.

An easy way to strike more than one zombie at a time is to hit them with your vehicle. For a bigger bang for your buck, consider attaching a pallet to the front of the vehicle to reinforce the grill and ram those bad boys. Alternatively, you could create a roof rack with your pallet for additional passengers.

If you don't have any armor kicking around your house, now's the time to channel your inner Martha Stewart and get crafty. You can easily make your own by taking a pallet apart and using the boards as shin and arm guards. And if you want to appear fierce when facing those zombies, have the nails of the pried-off board facing out to enhance the ability to protect yourself.
