This Is The Terrifying Moment A Man Wielding An Eight-Inch Knife Attacked The Police

Video has emerged showing two PCs from Northamptonshire tackling the man, who nearly stabbed one of the officers in the neck.

This is the moment two police officers were attacked by a knife-wielding man on a routine call-out.

PC Alex Prentice and PC Debbie Wishart were called to a disturbance in Corby in March last year and a police body camera captured the whole incident.

The officers threatened the man, 37-year-old Lee Vickers, with pepper spray and told him to drop the knife, but, undeterred, he approached the officers, lunging at them.

Vickers swung at PC Prentice and hit his stab vest – three inches below his neck.

At one point he says: "Me and you now."

Prentice told the BBC's Crimewatch on Tuesday: "It is not the first time we have had to deal with an incident like this, but it is the first time I have been hit on the stab vest.

"If the knife had been two to three inches higher it would have caught me in the neck."

Seconds later, Prentice disarmed Vickers, tackled him to the floor, and the arrest was made.

Vickers was later jailed for three and a half years for the attack.

He reportedly made an early guilty plea because of the video evidence.

The officers were awarded a chief constable's commendation for their bravery.
