Christian Slater really tried to vote in the election this year, but Florida turned him down. The Hollywood star tweeted his travails at the polling place on Election Day from his verified account, and today briefly posted and then deleted a picture of the rejection letter that Florida sent to him — misspelling his name “Christina D. Slater.” Republicans in Florida enacted controversial laws making it more difficult to vote this year.
UPDATE (1:30 p.m.): After this story was published, Slater deleted the two tweets that contained photographs of the letter.
Update 12/1 (10:28 a.m.): He re-posted the letter with a better redaction of his address, now seen above, tweeting “back by popular demand.”

laurelnev 6 months agoI live in FL. They send you voters registration cards, sample ballots, etc. ad infinitum BEFORE the election. They warn you to check all info for accuracy BEFORE such and such a date, and WARN you that if your DL doesn’t exactly match your voters’ registration to get it corrected in time, or possibly not have your vote count. It’s his own fault for not noticing, and correcting. that “Christina” typo when it showed up on the sample ballot, registration card, etc. The same database feeds both. Believe me, if the letter said Christina, all the other crap said it too. It’s his own fault for not noticing it earlier. Of course, if he actually LIVED in FL for the 6 months and 1 day required to claim residency in the state, rather than just flew in to vote, he might have actually seen all the “check by X date to make sure your registration is correct and current, or your ballot won’t count” the rest of us got sick of seeing. :)

He lives in the state, but has to travel to work, just like any commuter, businessman or fly in fly out worker. The guy works all over the planet.If you exclude everybody who spends a lot of time outside the state, then none of them would be able to vote. The whole Florida system resembles one that is rigged to try to disenfranchise everybody who does not have a completely stable lifestyle, whether they be unemployed or movie stars. They ALL have the right to their one vote, and should not be subjected to measures that only serve to confuse the situation.

LionessFeathers 6 months agoHey, at least he GOT his provisional ballot. Mine never even showed up. I heard tell that it happened to a lot of people registered as Democrats in FL.
