4. Matt Saracen

Because, seriously, who doesn't want a nobody turned champion quarterback, a man of the house who takes care of his grandmother, as a high school boyfriend?

5. The shaky-camera style

I remember being skeptical when I watched the first seconds of the pilot. But after 10 minutes, I was hooked. The episodes are shot with several cameras running at the same time that manage to catch the most beautiful shots of Texas. Add to this a color image that gives a great nostalgic-like tone to the series and the atmosphere of the show is set. Welcome to Dillon, Texas, y'all!

6. It's not just about football

Or wait, is it? After 5 seasons, I still don’t get all the rules, but I understand the passion and the team work. I know who is throwing the ball, who is the fastest runner and who is supposed to kick ass. They’re called Matt, Smash and Riggins. What do you mean it’s not the same as knowing the rules?

7. It hits you in the face

Whether it's when the whole team is taking a knee and praying for Jason Street, Matt Saracen is giving his father's eulogy, Smash is giving up his dream of playing in a big university team, or Tyra is being attacked on a parking lot under pouring rain, this shows will hit you when you less expect it. Racism, war, religion, rape, abortion… Instead of avoiding sensitive subjects, it tackles them simply and without patronizing us.

Between the accent, the "Hi y'all", and "Texas Forever", I don't know if I should just move there or… move there.
