Shocker: Doubled Student Loan Rates Still Aren't Fixed, Because Congress Can't Figure It Out

    Lawmakers missed their deadline to keep Stafford student loan rates from doubling and now they're scrambling to fix it. A deal could be announced from the Senate education panel as early as Thursday with a vote by Tuesday. If they don't, students returning to campus in just a few weeks will pay 6.8 instead of just 3.4 percent on all new loans.
