“Happy Rosh Hashanah” Tweet Shows How Little Anyone Knows About Iran’s Jews
The largest population of Jews in the Middle East outside Israel is in… Iran. Yep, that’s right. The country whose last president hated Israel and liked to deny the Holocaust is home to around 20-25,000 Jews.
For that population, things might be looking up. Iran’s new, more moderate prez, Hassan Rouhani, tweeted a happy #RoshHashanah message to the country’s Jews when the holiday began Wednesday night — perhaps a sign of the start a newer, more tolerant era in Iran.
