INTERVIEW: ABC's "Whodunnit?" Butler Giles, Gildart Jackson

This summer's hit mystery reality show is so true to life, some viewers thought contestants actually died on the program. As Butler Giles, General Hospital actor Gildart Jackson guides contestants in the quest to unmask the "real" killer among them.

Whodunnit? is a murder mystery reality competition, and I've never seen one of those. It's also created by Anthony Zuicker, who also created the CSI franchise, and made by many people involved with CSI, so the whole feel of the show is very like an episode of CSI, only real!
I enjoy Vincent Price, though I don't know if he ever played a butler, and I'd like to think that there is a little of him in Giles.
I was continually surprised as the show progressed. Especially the finale, when the Killer's identity is masterfully revealed…on that day, I was astonished!
That expression is a disparagement of the great art of butlering, and Giles takes offense that it is bandeyed so often. He would never and could never have done anything of the sort. It would call into question his entire existence. The training of a butler is far too long and rigorous to have time for personal agendas. He is here to serve well and gains all possible enjoyment from doing so.
Of course, Giles hopes that his next employer is not quite so diabolical. However, he is afraid that he is cursed and somehow will keep on being employed by maniacal serial killers. I suppose if that is to be the case, he would prefer to be dealing with death and destruction in...say, the Maldives? Or Martinique perhaps…
I love murder mysteries. To be in the middle of one and not be about to be killed – at least, I hope that is the case – is a nightmare come true.
Hating is so tiresome. If you don't like it, don't watch. But if you like shows like CSI, and you think you are the type of person who can solve crimes by correctly picking up clues along the way, then you owe it to yourself to check us out. And take a stab at seeing if you can't work out: Whodunnit?!
