6 Worst/ Disappointing TV Series Finales

Here is a list of the worst/disappointing series finales (in my opinion), this does not include shows that were cancelled before their time such as the perfection that is My So Called Life. The impact of disappointing movies versus television is defined by one factor, time. If you didn't like the end of a movie, you wasted 2 hours of your life. If you didn't like the end of a TV show, you wasted 10 years of your life or one weekend long binge session. And just in case you couldn't tell: WARNING SPOILERS!

6) Full House (1987-1995)

This show was campy and over the top, yet it was a beloved show that didn't have the bar set high for the finale. Sadly, it didn't even get off the ground. A ridiculous plot, which included Michelle Tanner losing her memory and forgetting her family, was the main flaw. It was over dramatic and sad for a generally cheery show.

5) Prison Break (2005-2009)

A once fantastic and thrilling show had a finale to match the downward spiral that was its plot. The finale (and final two seasons in general) had too many twists and turns. It was just hard to keep up. The final nail in the coffin (pardon my chose of clichés) was that the show killed off fan favorite, Michael Scofield . His death came with little warning and nothing more than a brief flash-forward scene.

4) Gilmore Girls (2000-2007)

A finale that didn't feel like a finale. An episode that was Richard and Emily Gilmore lite, no return of any previously beloved characters and just all together boring. This probably had most to do with creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, no longer being part of the show. Many fans were upset that Rory didn't end up with any of her 3 previous serious boyfriends or that any of them were even seen. Though some would prefer it that way. Just an all together boring and disappointing ending to a beloved show. At least, Lorelai and Luke got back together and the finale was open ended enough for fans to write years' worth of fics. I know I did.

3) Seinfeld (1989-1998)

One of the most beloved, if not beloved, show in television history. 9 hilarious and wonderful seasons, capped off with the stalest of finales. They took flawed, but loveable characters and made them out to be the bad guys. Who then got sent to prison. I remember watching the show as a kid and thinking it was all going to be one final joke or pull a Dallas and make it all a dream. Sadly the finale was not a dream, and the stale finale is stuck in all of our minds. But, maybe that was the point. A memorable (albeit horrible) finale for a memorable show.

2) How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014)

Had a solid and creative last season, but the show ended with a finale that proved that it should have ended seasons ago. The final scenes of the finale were filmed in season 2, but that does not make up for the utter disappointment of the finale. The mother (a character we grew to love over the last season) was killed off with one line. This left the door open for Ted to run back to Robin. In the end, the entire plot of the show was just a giant red hearing for the final twist. The part of the finale that makes this one of the worst is that it proved my own mother right. She told me back in Season 4 that Robin and Ted would end up together. And her being right just kills me.

1) Roseanne (1988-1997)

A finale so disappointing I turn off the TV whenever it comes on. Concluding the abysmal season that was the end of Roseanne( originally fantastic show) we shouldn't have expected too much, yet we did. Turns out the whole thing was a lie. Roseanne had been writing a book the whole time. Couples who were married weren't, characters who were gay weren't or vice versa, and worst of all Dan had died. Once again, nothing stings worse than a fan favorite dying, especially when you thought he might die and then he doesn't die. But wait he did! This finale is so bad that it sometime keeps me up a night.
