As part of their "One Word" series, Cut Video asked 30 gay men what they thought of the phrase "acting gay."
"I don't think anyone can act gay... Stupid."
"Flamboyant. I guess that's the stereotype."
"I might not think I'm acting gay right now, but people say I do."
"I'm going to just tie that to ignorance."
"Rejection. There’s so many deviations that doesn’t fit that mold. Just like... there's so many ways, in which, someone doesn't act like a girl, act like a man, act like a father."
"Sassy."
"Bullshit. It's not an act... it's never an act."
"I hate both 'acting gay' and 'acting straight.' It's so limiting and really piss-poor."
"Acting gay is just being who you are."
"I look at 'acting gay' as a positive thing. I try as much as possible, when I am with my partner... to act gay. I'm gonna hold your hand...I'm gonna kiss you, wherever you are. I AM GONNA ACT AS FUCKING GAY AS I WANT!"
