Orson Swindle, who was held as a prisoner of war along with McCain, tells the McCain Report that he heard this particular story from McCain “when we first moved in together.” That was in the summer of 1971, Swindle said, though “time blurred” and he couldn’t be sure. He said it was some time around then that the Vietnamese moved all “36 troublemakers” into the same quarters, where they “talked about everything under the sun.”

That’s not the strongest refutation ever, but is it really so unbelievable that two imprisoned Christians in history would make a cross in the dirt?

  • whaaa? Tell John McCain to stop ripping off dead Russians if he wants to stay out of the news. There’s also the fact that the guy is much easier to make fun of than Obama.

  • John McTaint wants to set up American Hero camps in Scottsdale, AZ so you can experience what it was like being a prisoner:
    - Relive the experience that John McTaint had fighting the communists in Western Albanian prison camps.
    - Experience what it was like being captured and being put through the same tests and trials that John McTaint went through.
    - You too can experience what it takes to become a presumptive nominee. http://johnmctaint.com/hero.php

  • Re: Scott Lamb: Landon, I think your charge about our bias is just really unfair. There is bias of commission and omission on BuzzFeed.  Commission = Only posting positives on Obama and negatives on McCain.
Omission = Never posting negatives on Obama or positives on McCain.  How ironic that the ‘McCain propaganda’ post would appear not 2 seconds after you ‘disagreed’ with me. I’m not asking for CNN-esque coverage here… I just think that most of your readers would like you to provide interesting links to interesting topics, and quit being all ‘DailyKos’ on us.

  • I also heard a story about this website, BuzzFeed, which was incredible and super-awesome until their writers kept showing so much Obama bias that their readers quit coming to the site.
