I’ve been working at Staples for just over seven years, and there have been multiple occasions with me, as a part-time associate since day one, where I have worked 30+ hour weeks for weeks at a time. I once was working 37.5 hours per week back in 2007 for a whole month because everyone else in the department had quit. In the last four months, I’ve been working an average of about 30 or more than hours per week due to having no full-time supervisor in our department. Back in November, I clocked in about 40 hours in one week helping out between three stores. So, Staples is full of crap if they are saying this policy has existed for 10 years. Our managers have specifically told us that this new policy was due to the Affordable Care Act’s implementation.
