It's Neva! International Model!
Well, it's been quite the past few months! I'm a city girl now, living in a loft in DTLA (Downtown Los Angeles)! It is like heaven and I finally feel like Marlo Thomas every day I wake up. "That girl!"
Since receiving the promotion I mentioned in the video, I decided to update my wardrobe to "Executive Realness", or the best that I can do. The black and white striped peplum dress is from Target which retails for $24.99. The hot pink flats are a thrift store find and were probably around $3.00. My tiny, silver glitter cowboy hat from Party City was $1.49 - just to clarify, I had this had long before I ever saw Zooey Deschanel on "The New Girl" and it pleases me to know that someone else knows the power of tiny hats (tiny hats are my passion). The vintage Taco Time sign in the video is a nod to my earlier life in Idaho where the two fiercest chains of tacos were Taco Time and Taco John's. I would sell my mother for some Potato Ole's. Sad truth.
I was inspired by DVF's mix of The Misfits video "Designing Women" with Heidi Montag's cover of Lada Gaga's "Fashion" from "Ugly Betty" and "Confessions from a Shopaholic" starring Isla Fisher, Mrs. Sascha Baron-Cohen (did you know his brother is a top Autism researcher? Where's my Asperger's at!). Some of the first songs I downloaded from Napster in 1999 were DVF's Jem re-mixes. "Who is He Kissin'" left quite the impression on me.
Also, please note that I am sporting NATURAL BLOND HAIR! Yay! I should explain my hair has not been naturally blond since I was about three - where I peaked as a platinum pixie princess with elfin features. Since then, I have been too scared to embrace the past. Heeeey world. I'm in you! Serving up 80's Power Woman Power! Pew Pew!
Also, this taco truck - Crazy Tacos - stationed off of 6th and Main in DTLA - makes their own tortillas. Crazy GOOD Tacos if you ask me! I go here a lot now that I am a busy business professional and don't always have time to cook.
Oh! I forgot to mention! I am sporting lime neon green lightning bolt earrings that I got in the Fashion District in DTLA in a 7@$5.00 grab. I purchased them after coveting similar earrings worn by Detox Icunt, the third runner up in RuPaul's Drag Race. I have loved Detox ever since she made her entrance into the work room wearing a deep Jem reference to one of the other fictional bands in the show, The Stingers. Rapture Realness! Detox's confidence, fishiness, body-ody-ody-ody, and flirtatious nature spoke to me. I am not #sorryboutit and I have not yet begun to #ivehadit where she is concern. When it was confirmed that she was in part inspired by Jem, it just confirmed that she is my goddess.
However, since she is not in the top three and the winner is announced today, I will reveal my pick. As much as I love me some big girl, thick and juicy realness, I do not choose Roxxy Andrews. Where your people at? Not here. To quote one of my favorite songs from an animated show for adults produced in the 60's, "The Flintstones", "Smilers never lose, and frowners never win." Jinkx Monsoon is wild, wacky, and wonderful and representing PNW's (Pacific NorthWesterners) at long last, but my heart has always belonged to the triple B (bowlegged, Bambi-eyed beauty), Alaska Thunderfuck. #teamalaska I dare say that I may love her more than last year's Sharon Needles (ouch, Neva. Ouch.) A win for Alaska could bring about the kai kai that would bring the world to its knees. I am Red-y for it.
