I'm from Rhode Island, where I kept 2 12” subs in the trunk of my gold Town Car. I once bought an alligator and kept her (or him) in a home-made gator pit, but she escaped to the larger pond across the street. I love the beach and skiing too, which makes choosing where to vacation difficult. I was sad to leave Chicago. I had no problem leaving DC. And it's impossible not to love living in New York.
