My Magical Curls

Finally a children’s book for girl’s with curly hair to be proud of their locks! What began as an impromptu bedtime story for her daughter slowly blossomed into children's book. The Girl With The Magical Curls is about a little girl named Tatiana who develops magical hair powers while it gets caught in her neighbor’s ivies. Tatiana goes around town saving lives and aiding others using her hair. From saving the life of the neighborhood kitty; to saving the lives of carnival goers at a local amusement park, Tatiana learns the importance of helping others. The inspiration for her book, The Girl With The Magical Curls came from her daughter Tatiana. As a multiracial family and coming from a diverse background, Evita thought it would be a good idea to have a child super hero with a unique special power. In love with her daughter’s curly hair and her curly hair, she thought why not create a character with curly hair that has amazing super power abilities using her hair? The messages in this story are relatable to not just children but parents as well; loving your hair, girl empowerment, and being of service to all humankind. An alumna of Rowan University, Evita majored in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. Her work experience prior to professional writing has been in non-profit/higher education administration. She is currently a graduate student at Fordham University and a proud wife and mother to her daughter, Tatiana.
