    Arlington, TexasTeacher Surprises Family With A Car - Leukemia

    The AISD Homebound program works with students who can not attend school because of illness. Homebound teacher Lea Mattson has been working with an 8th grader from Nichols JH who was diagnosed with Leukemia last April.

    The AISD Homebound program works with students who can not attend school because of illness. Homebound teacher Lea Mattson has been working with an 8th grader from Nichols JH who was diagnosed with Leukemia last April. The student has undergone chemotherapy and various other treatments and is now on the road to recovery. During her intensive treatment, her mother lost her job and transportation. Ms. Mattson recently raised money to help buy a used car for this family. With generous donations they were able to purchase a used car, insurance and TT&L for the vehicle. Other's donated clothes and makeovers for the two. And some have reached out to help the mom find a job.
