On Sunday, thousands of runners participated in the annual San Jose 408K race — a race that benefits the foundation for fallen Army Ranger Pat Tillman.
During a certain section of the course, the runners were cheered on by 95-year-old World War II veteran Joe Bell, who was dressed in his uniform.
As he applauded their effort in his front yard, a spontaneous round of applause erupted for the veteran and then one by one the runners left the course to shake his hand and thank him for his service.
It was a memorable and touching moment, especially for Joe, who later told reporters, "I never got recognition in my life."
