The Kids Step-By-Step Guide To Eco Experience At The Minnesota State Fair

The Eco Experience building is full of family-friendly, interactive and informative activities that your kids will love. Come join us to explore clean water, climate change, recycling, air quality, transportation, gardening and healthy food. 1. Start outdoors on the Nature Adventure Play Yard.

Use your imagination on this playground made of plant materials, tree stumps and everyday recycled materials.

2. Stop at Info Desk to get your FREE Origami Frog to play our Frog Scavenger Hunt

The volunteers at the information desk will teach you how to fold a paper origami and tell you all about the frog scavenger hunt we have throughout the building!

3. But first let your parents rest and get a big drink of water.

Parents and grandparents can rest in our kids area. We have couches for adults to rest and kid-friendly activities to keep the kids busy. Did we also mention we have nice clean bathrooms and a free water refilling station too?

4. Play with toy cars and water funnels in the air quality exhibit

Learn about air pollution from cars and about wood smoke. There's ways we can improve our air quality for everyone!

5. Be a water scientist!

Examine water bugs under a microscope and look for your house on a 200-square-foot watershed map with a magnifying glass. Then put your siblings and parents to the test an guess what secret object is inside our "What's in the Box?" exhibit.

6. Pedal away!

Imagine your life on a bike. You can "ride" past the grocery store, school, or bike to a game. No matter where you're headed two wheels is all you need to get you there.

7. And remember to take lots of pictures to show your grandparents and friends!

Take a selfie with the world's largest paper wad or a picture on the cardboard loveseat. Or put on your hockey gear and be a stormdrain goalie, protecting our water from pollutants!

8. Make a journal with reused household items in the ReUSE room.

9. Watch Tricia and the Toonies take over the Sustainability Stage.

Tricia and the Toonies teach us all how to be good environmental role models, plus Tricia's toonies are pretty funny. They'll be on the Sustainability Stage Sunday, Aug. 24th at 5 & 6 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m.

10. Grab some FREE food while you're exploring Eco Experience too.

Snack on locally grown foods like carrots and cucumbers at the Healthy Local Foods station. At 7 p.m. we'll also play episodes of the Perennial Plate while you snack on some fresh popcorn!

11. Or play with your food!

It's okay to play with your veggies here! Enter in the Veggie Grand Prix to see if your car can make it all the way down the track created by Renewing the Countryside.
